Update 1st December 2020
It’s official the 2020/2021 ski season is really here.
Normally by now we would be getting excited – our first tracks in fresh snow after a long summer of cycling. Unfortunately for many winter sport enthusiasts this year it may prove to be anything but a normal ski season.
In North America many mountain resorts are open with some restrictions in capacity and of course the usual Covid19 rules regarding indoor dining and drinking. In Japan ski resorts are expecting to open subject to usual social distancing rules. In Europe, Covid19 restrictions mean that while some resorts will be open, there is effectively no ski tourism until mid January, Switzerland and Spain being notable exceptions.
The weather has not really helped although the Alps is starting to get some snow and temperature are starting to fall across Europe.
In the USA there has been some fresh snow over the past week although many resorts probably still could do with more especially in the west.
For those on the snow already or planning a trip – have an enjoyable and safe time.
